OFFICER Q&A: Officer Amy Beynon
Q: What inspired you to become a police officer?
A: My dad was a police officer. I was inspired by him.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about being an officer at NA/IES?
A: The kids at IES are the best! I like interacting with them. They are so fun. The staff is also great. They are all so welcoming.
Q: What was your favorite class/subject when you were in school?
A: My favorite class/subject was science.
Q: What school did you attend and who was your favorite teacher?
A: I attended Avonworth School District. My favorite teacher was Mr. Scott Shriver. He taught science classes and made it fun to learn.
Q: What was your favorite food to eat at school lunch?
A: My favorite food was pizza from Tony R’s Pizza. We didn’t have a cafeteria in middle school, so as a treat we could preorder Tony R’s Pizza and it was delivered to school on Fridays.
Q: Did you play a sport or take part in any extracurricular activities while in school?
A: I played softball, intramural floor hockey, and soccer. I also played clarinet in the marching band.
Q: What do you like to do for fun when you’re not at work?
A: I like to spend time with my family and go on new adventures. I also have a small antiquing business, which keeps me busy.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, do they help you with your job?
A: I have a golden retriever and a basset hound. No, they don’t help me with my job, but I think it would be fun to train my golden retriever as a therapy dog.
Q: What’s the most important thing you want kids to know about safety?
A: I want them to make wise choices, especially when using social media sites. They should always check with a trusted adult to make sure that they are safe.
