Officer Heather Bristow
McKNIGHT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
During Officer Heather Bristow's career with the Pittsburgh Police, she served in multiple units and volunteered with the Cops and Kids Program, which is designed for young people to establish relationships with the officers. She also volunteered with the Special Olympics for several years. She is looking forward to building relationships with the students, family, and community.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role at North Allegheny?
Building good relationships with students and staff in order to create a positive role model for the students, and promote a positive image of law enforcement; creating a link between law enforcement and the students; and being a resource to students and parents.
Beyond safety, how do you envision your role in supporting the overall well-being of students?
Building relationships with students is essential for their well-being within a school environment. All students need to feel a sense of belonging and being connected to their "school family." I would like to get to know the students at my assigned school, and help those who might be navigating uncertain times.
What is your favorite thing about Pittsburgh?
It is a mid-sized city with a hometown feel. There are numerous things and places to see. You can get the “T” and head into town for a bite to eat, a show, sporting event, or yoga in Market Square.
What are some of your interests or hobbies outside of law enforcement?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Often you can find me hiking, SUP boarding, biking, doing yoga, gardening, or anything that gets me outside.
