The English Language Arts Department is committed to delivering a standards-based curriculum that promotes the development of reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills with an eye toward 21st-century applications. Effective English Language Arts instruction promotes the growth of these skills in all students through collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. By engaging in these experiences beginning in primary grades, students begin to develop critical competencies that will aid them in all phases of life. Research-supported integrated Reading and English instruction at the middle and secondary levels promotes further development and mastery of these competencies and prepares students to be effective thinkers, learners, and communicators in the digital age.
