NASD HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING ASSESSMENT
The mission of North Allegheny School District is to prepare all students for success in a changing world. As our world evolves, so does the need for the District to enhance our educational environments for our students and staff. This spring, the District will begin to analyze the aging infrastructure at our high school campuses with the goal of creating a plan forward for North Allegheny.
REIMAGINING THE NORTH ALLEGHENY HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
In March 2022, the North Allegheny Board of School Directors approved a third-party vendor, Weber Murphy Fox, to develop an assessment of the District’s High School facilities.
NASD HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING ASSESSMENT TIMELINE
The timeline is subject to change pending NASD Board approval at each phase of the project.
In the spring of 2022, North Allegheny School District will begin a building assessment of North Allegheny Senior High School and North Allegheny Intermediate High School with the goal of creating a path to enhance the educational experience for our students and staff.
Assessment—9-12 months (Begins Spring 2022)
- Beginning in the spring of 2022, Weber Murphy Fox will analyze the facilities at North Allegheny Intermediate and North Allegheny Senior High School.
- This assessment will take approximately nine months to a year to complete.
- At the end of the assessment, key stakeholders will approve a path forward.
- Financing options will be determined.
Design—18 months (TBD)
- Based on the assessment results, the design process will begin and take approximately 18 months to complete.
- Financing options will be determined.
Construction—3-5 years
- Once the design process is complete and approved, the project will move into the construction phase.
SPRING 2022—HIGH SCHOOL ASSESSMENT
- During the first phase of this project, Weber Murphy Fox will complete a full assessment of the infrastructure at North Allegheny Intermediate and Senior High Schools. This will include:
- Educational survey and programming
- Utilization and capacity analysis
- Demographic and enrollment study
- Public engagement and committee workshop
- Feasibility studies and options
- Site planning
- Capital planning
- Master planning
- Monthly meetings will be held on the 1st Wednesday of each month with a steering committee, which includes NASD Executive Council, principals, facilities, NASD Board of School Directors, and the Buildings and Grounds subcommittee.
- Meetings with staff and students will begin in April and May of 2022.
ASSESSMENT PARTNER
- The District sent an RFI (request for information) to 19 firms and received 11 responses. After narrowing the proposals down to four, two firms were selected to present to the NASD School Board of Directors Buildings and Grounds Committee on February 23.
- The NASD Board of Directors selected Weber Murphy Fox.
- Founded in 1967, Weber Murphy Fox (WMF), is an architecture, interior design, and construction management firm with offices in Erie, State College, and Cleveland.
