    Kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year opened on January 3rd, 2023.
    We will continue to register Kindergarten students throughout the spring and summer.

    Before you begin, review our new interactive handbook outlining the registration process, supporting documents, appointments, and much more!

    Are You a New Family?

    • You are a new family if you are new to the District or have never had a student enrolled at North Allegheny.

    Are You an Existing Family?

    As an existing family, do you want to:

    • Add a new student
      • If you have or had a student enrolled at North Allegheny School District, you may add a new student who has never been enrolled at NASD, to your account. Log in to the Tyler SIS Student 360 portal using your current credentials.
    • Re-enroll a student
      • A re-enrolled student has previously attended a school within the North Allegheny School District or attended a charter, cyber, private, or parochial school, or was homeschooled while residing in the North Allegheny School District.

    "Launching into Kindergarten"

    The “Launching Into Kindergarten” program is designed to provide parents of incoming kindergarten students with general information about the North Allegheny School District’s kindergarten registration process, transition events for incoming kindergarten students, and an overview of the District kindergarten program.

    AM/PM Preferences and the Lottery System

    Parents will indicate their preference for AM or PM kindergarten during their child's registration appointment (virtual or in-person). The building principal will assign students to AM or PM kindergarten sessions using established class-size guidelines and the preferences indicated by parents during the registration appointment. Class assignments for students to AM/PM classes will not be done on a first-come, first-serve basis.

    If the preferences for all registrations received by March 3, 2023, cannot be accommodated in any given building, there will be a lottery drawing in that building for each session for which there is an overage of requests. The lottery will be conducted before the end of the 2022-2023 school year. The principal, PFA President or designee, and one pre-kindergarten parent will be present for the lottery.

    The lottery will be conducted in this manner: Names of all students requesting the session in question will be randomly drawn to fill that section to the capacity determined by class-size guidelines. After that section is filled, names will be drawn to develop a waiting list for that section. Principals will maintain the wait list and review assignments if changes in enrollment occur prior to the opening of school in August 2023.

    Anyone who registers after March 3, 2023, will not be included in the lottery and will be given AM/PM preference based on availability and their placement on the wait list.

    Parents will receive a communication from the building in July outlining Kindergarten Orientation, which occurs in late August. Parents will also receive notification of teacher assignments in August.
