What is web accessibility?

Accessibility means that people with disabilities have equal or equivalent access to the World Wide Web. Accessible websites permit all people to perceive, understand, navigate and interact. -
What does the law require?
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities. These laws mandate equal access to programs and services provided by public entities such as the North Allegheny School District.

How do I make sure that the District’s website is accessible to me as a person with a disability?
The North Allegheny School District is committed to making its communications through its website accessible. If, because of a disability, you are unable to access content or software on the District’s website, please email webmaster@northallegheny.org.

What if the website content or District software cannot be modified to ensure equal access?
The North Allegheny School District will provide the same information through other means, such as providing hard copies of website content. If you require information, please email webmaster@northallegheny.org.

Are there any limits on the kinds of modifications the District is required to make?
Yes. The District is not required to take actions that it can demonstrate would result in a fundamental alteration in the nature, service, program or activity or undue financial and administrative burdens. However, these situations are extremely rare and it is the goal of North Allegheny School District to provide equal access to all of its constituents to its website content.
