The MES library provides students and staff access to over 22,000 items. North Allegheny provides access to a number of subscription databases such as the Pebble Go collection, World Book Encyclopedia, Access PA/Power Library, CultureGrams, and World Almanac for Kids. These resources are available both at school and at home. Links to these resources are located on a tab to the left called Elementary Online Resources. Logins for these databases are available through your child's library class in Blackboard. These resources are also available for use at home by clicking on Online Resources at Home. The library catalog, Destiny, is available online at school and at home through the Tiger ID dashboard.
Each week, students attend library classes taught by the librarians, Mrs. Alviso and Mrs. Tomczak, where students have book exchanges, story times, and technology integration. Students participate in activities such as research projects, literature appreciation and March Book Madness. Classes in first through fifth grades will receive a report card grade at the end of each semester. We also host two book fairs a year where money raised goes to purchase new books and resources for our library. Throughout the year, students and families may participate in the Celebration Book Club.
