For the 12th consecutive year, North Allegheny School District (NASD) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. NASD is one of 583 school districts in the nation selected for this prestigious award in 2018.
The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate significant achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, NASD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
“This recognition is a true testament to the outstanding efforts of our teachers and staff members in the Music Department,” shared Superintendent Dr. Robert Scherrer. “They consistently go above and beyond the expectations to ensure that our students are receiving the best education possible. We are fortunate to provide such a rich music curriculum to students at each grade level.”
