Family and Consumer Sciences Day on Monday December 3rd

Please join the North Allegheny Family and Consumer Sciences department in celebrating Family and Consumer Sciences Day on Monday December 3. On December 3, 1842, American Chemist and founder of the Home Economics movement in the United States, Ellen Swallow Richards, was born.  Learn more about Ellen here! Fast forward to December 3, 2014 and the first FCS Day took place!

FCS Day was created to encourage families to sit down and share a meal together. There are many benefits of having dinner together as a family. Benefits include: improve family relationships, help improve grades and literacy, increase your family's consumption of healthy foods, decrease the likelihood your family will be overweight or obese, save money, and many more!
