Each school offers a variety of ways for students to become involved with clubs, music, and art activities. This information will be shared by your student's school once the new year begins.

NASD has a participation fee structure for certain extra-curricular activities, such as interscholastic athletics, marching band, intramurals, and various select ensembles or clubs.

Every Friday at 5:00 PM during the school year, the district emails parents/guardians a newsletter. This email includes a link to important information from your student’s school, as well as news from the district.

Since 1998, North Allegheny School District has partnered with Metz Culinary Management to provide our students with nutritious meals. In addition to the variety of healthy meals, Metz also conducts theme days and several promotions for the students each year.

PaySchools Central Account

NASD cafeterias utilize PaySchools Central, a computerized debit system, in the cafeteria lunch lines. All first graders and students new to the district will need to create an account with PaySchools Central.

Too Sick for School?

Please keep your students home when they are sick. Often times a sick student does not have the energy needed to complete the school day and this can put their classmates at risk of becoming ill. Please follow the district's 24-hour rule: Keep your student home 24 hours after their last fever without using any fever-reducing medications and 24 hours from the last episode of vomiting/diarrhea.

NA Code of Conduct

The NA Code of Conduct was developed to ensure a healthy and productive learning environment in our schools so that the maximum potential for learning can exist. The Code of Conduct is communicated to students by their principals and teachers. 

Annual Notices

Numerous federal and state laws require school districts to provide students, parents, and/or the public with annual notices, many of which must be provided at the beginning of the school year. These annual notices can be found at northallegheny.org/our-district/annual-notices

Leaving or Enrolling at North Allegheny

If you are a new family to the North Allegheny School District or are re-enrolling a student, information about registration can be found on our website at northallegheny.org/departments/enrollment-registration

Address Change

If you’re moving to a new area in the district, please let your school office know as soon as possible. You can log into PowerSchool, click on FORMS, and submit a Change of Demographic form. This will enable us to make accurate enrollment, scheduling, and transportation plans for the coming school year.

We certainly don’t want to see you go, but if you are leaving the district, please log into PowerSchool, click on FORMS, and submit a Withdrawal form.

Help Our Registration Office Spread the Word About Enrollment!

During the summer, if you meet individuals new to the district, please encourage them to register their student(s) prior to August to receive important back-to-school information. Registration prior to August also helps the district plan for class sizes across schools and transportation needs. 

Reminder: Currently enrolled students do not need to register! 

The North Allegheny School Police Department creates and maintains the safest environments possible for our students, staff, and visitors. 

Visiting Our Schools

Visitors arriving at NASD schools will be buzzed in only through the main office front entrance doors. All visitors should have picture identification. Depending on the reason for the visit, additional steps via the RAPTOR system may be required.

Closed Campus Policy

To ensure the safety and security of our students and staff, the district limits access to our campuses for individuals in the community during school hours (7:00 AM–4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, during the school year and on days when school is in session). Individuals are not permitted to use our school campuses and athletic facilities for casual pedestrian traffic, dog or animal walking, bike riding, or other activities. View a copy of the NASD Board of School Director’s Closed Campus Policy (722)

Safe2Say

A safe and welcoming school is the responsibility of us all. If you see something that looks suspicious or if you have specific information regarding a criminal offense, we encourage you to say something. NASD participates in Safe2Say Something (S2SS) and offers a tipline.

Student homeroom assignments (elementary) and schedules (secondary) will be available in PowerSchool on Thursday, August 7. Email communication will be shared with parents/guardians when homeroom assignments and schedules are available.

Technology Safety

As we prepare for the new school year, learn how the district helps keep your child safe when using school devices.

NASD iPads are issued to students in grades K–8. Devices are issued with pre-loaded applications and additional apps that can be downloaded for use in the classroom.

• The pre-loaded applications are considered to be foundational and necessary for the day-to-day instructional needs and operation of schools. 

• The full Apple App Store is not accessible from district-issued iPads. Only applications that are considered educationally beneficial have been made available through the Self-Service app on your student's device.

• The district is currently evaluating and streamlining the digital resources made available to staff and students.  This ongoing process reviews data privacy, curricular relevance, and appropriateness of cost as digital resources are considered for addition or elimination from the digital ecosystem.

Bus Assignments Will Be Available in PowerSchool

• Bus assignments for students will be available in PowerSchool on August 7, 2025, around 6:00 PM. We encourage families to check PowerSchool again before the first day of school to see if there have been any changes to your assignment. Please note that the Transportation Department regularly updates bus routes due to new student enrollments.

• To locate your student's bus assignment in PowerSchool, click on the Transportation Info icon on the side banner, and you'll be presented with your student's transportation information including times and address intersections.
• Drivers will be testing routes end of July/early August, which may result in a change to your student's bus assignment.
• If your student's transportation is provided by a non-NASD transportation company, you will be contacted separately with the bus assignment.
• For elementary students, bus tags will be mailed in early August. If you do not receive a tag by August 12, please reach out to your child's school.
