Mr. David E. Deramo brings 28 years of experience in public education as the Superintendent of Schools for the North Allegheny School District. He previously served as Principal of Ingomar Middle School prior to becoming North Allegheny's Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education. As a member of the Executive Council, he was a key contributor in designing and implementing the district’s Strategic & Comprehensive Plan, including the development of the Balanced Scorecard. “The Strategic Comprehensive Plan has guided the work of all district stakeholders to support North Allegheny’s students. We have worked collaboratively with our Board of Education to establish Key Performance Indicators to assess our progress, while continuously focusing on student and professional growth.”
Before he arrived at North Allegheny, Mr. Deramo served as Assistant Superintendent (K–12) for the South Fayette Township School District, where he coordinated the K–12 curriculum, helped develop the district’s comprehensive strategic plan, and led implementation of an induction program for ongoing professional development and teacher training. He has also held roles as intermediate principal (grades 3–5) and middle school principal (grades 6–8), where, under his leadership, those schools received multiple Pittsburgh Business Times Distinguished Academic Achievement Awards.
Mr. Deramo earned a B.A. in Sociology (1997) and a Master of Education (1998) from the University of Pittsburgh. He launched his career as a middle‑level social studies teacher in the West Mifflin Area School District (1998–2004) and later served as an elementary principal, assistant middle school principal, and head middle school principal there (2004–2009). He holds principal certification and a Letter of Eligibility for school district leadership from the University of Pittsburgh and is in the last stages of pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Point Park University. His goal is to have his Doctorate degree completed during the 2026–27 school year.
Mr. Deramo and his wife, Barbara, are the proud parents of three daughters: Sage (21), Mia (19), and Brooklyn (16).
