Scott Mergen is the Director of Transportation for the North Allegheny School District, a position he has held since November 2023. In this role, he oversees the district's transportation services, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of students to and from school and related activities. 

Before joining North Allegheny, Mergen served as the Transportation Director for the Plum Borough School District. He began his career there in 2003 as a bus mechanic and advanced through the ranks to become the transportation director. 

Mergen holds a degree from Penn State University.

In his current position, Mergen has been instrumental in implementing route optimizations to address concerns about lengthy bus rides and early pickup times. These changes included consolidating bus stops, reducing the number of bus runs, and adjusting pickup times to better align with student needs. For instance, the earliest high school pickup times were shifted from 5:45 AM to no earlier than 6:15 AM, aiming to improve student well-being and overall efficiency.
