Discounts on Home Internet

The North Allegheny School District realizes that not every family has access to the Internet at home, though some may wish to.

You may be eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program from the Federal Communications Commission. The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare, and more.

The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

If you are not able to take advantage of the Affordable Connectivity Program, you may be able to take advantage of one of the resources below to obtain broadband Internet at your home at low or no cost:

Many smartphones can be turned into a "hotspot" for use by other devices. Depending on your provider and plan, this may be either free or a small additional charge to your service. If you are unsure about your plan, contact your provider for details.

If you know that your plan provides for hotspot use, this article by PCMagazine, How To Turn Your Phone Into a Wi-Fi Hotspot should help.
