    Remote Learning

(For Special Areas, Orchestra, etc., visit the individual teacher’s web page.)

    Week of: June 1, 2020

    • Monday:
      • Math:
        • Lesson 12.4 (Pgs 715-720) Describing sides of polygons is the idea of identifying parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines.
        • Science:
          • Virtual Field Trip!
          • This is a virtual field trip to the San Diego Zoo. Enjoy!
          • Tuesday:
            • ELA:
              • Read “The Planets” (pages 384-403) This is actually a pretty interesting selection!
              • Kids can make a poster or model about one of the planets they read about.
              • **A fun thing I always do with them is to figure out their age on different planets. For example, a year on Mercury is the equivalent of 88 Earth days. So if they are 9, then they have been alive for about 3,285 days (9x365). So if we divide the 3285 by the 88 days that equals one year on Mercury (3285/88) they would be about 37 years old on Mercury! Tell them that I’d be almost 220 years old!!!
              • Virtual Field Trip!
              • Visit to Mars! They can look around and tell you, (or another living thing, dog, cat, hamster, whatever!) something they saw on it!
              • Wednesday:

    Additional Learning Opportunities

    ELA:

    • Choose a topic that is of interest to you. It could be sports, famous people, places, animals, or whatever else you can think of. Write a 1 page report (minimum) report and make a poster, model or other visual to go along with it.
    • Choose a chapter book you have at home. Read it and write a book review telling about the book and whether you liked it or not.
    • Go to Study Island and choose a topic to review the lesson and complete the questions.
    • Access Scholastic News on your I-Pad or computer. Choose one of the magazines and an article that is interesting to you. Make a Book Creator on your I-Pad telling the important information you learned. **Password is ies3c**
    • Write me an email telling me about how you’re doing and how you like the story we’re reading.
    • Go to the “Additional Resources” link on my webpage. Check out the Disney courses on there! They’re really cool and you can do many activities with them!

    Math:

    • Go to Study Island and choose a topic to review the lesson and complete the questions.
    • Practice math facts on Reflex.
    • Use Prodigy to practice math skills.
    • Make a math board game. Make cards with either basic math facts or other questions that YOU CAN answer. Design a game board and pieces. Play the game with someone else.
    • Teach a math lesson to someone else. (It can even be a stuffed animal!) Pretend you’re me! Use your book and whatever you have to write on (NOT THE WALLS!!) to demonstrate!
    • Go to the “Additional Resources” link on my webpage. Check out the Disney courses on there! They’re really cool and you can do many activities with them!
    • Do the “Extra Challenge” activities on my webpage.
