A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM
SCHOOL TO ADULTHOODWe understand that navigating the system of adult services can be challenging. To help prepare families of students with special needs for the transition of life beyond North Allegheny School District, we are offering information sessions to learn more about the programs available in the community.

PAST SESSIONS
April 20, 2023 - Understanding the Services Provided by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services (AC DHS) Office of Developmental Supports (ODS), held virtually at 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Mary Evrard from the Allegheny County Office of Developmental Supports will join us. Come learn about the supports that are offered by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services (AC DHS) Office of Developmental Supports (ODS).
PAST INFORMATION SESSIONS
Thursday, January 19, 2023 - Pre-Employment Transition Programs and Post-Secondary Training
Held virtually on Thursday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m., the featured speaker was Mrs. Kristy Richardson, Director of Institutional Development at the Hiram G. Andrews Vocational Training Center. Mrs. Richardson shared an overview of the pre-employment transition programs, post-secondary training programs, and supports that are provided for students at the Commonwealth Technical Institute at the Hiram G. Andrews Center as they determine and pursue individual goals of employment and independence.
February 16, 2023 - OVR 101
Held virtually on Thursday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m., the featured speaker was Ms. Andria McCourt, Early Reach Coordinator for the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR). The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation’s mission is to assist individuals with disabilities to secure and maintain employment and independence. In this OVR 101 session, viewers will learn more about OVR and the services they provide to students as well as adults. The presentation includes information on the OVR process, forms, services, and programs for students and adults.
March 23, 2023 - Programs Offered at Pittsburgh Technical College
Held virtually on Thursday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m., the featured speaker was Mr. Steve Macri, Director of First Impressions at the Pittsburgh Technical College in Oakdale, Pennsylvania. Mr. Macri spoke about the over 30 programs offered at PTC and how technical education is different from that of a four-year college or university. He focused on the importance of visiting many different schools as students prepare to make decisions about their future. He also covered the financial aid process and how students can pay for college.
