VARIATIONS Literary and Creative Arts magazine is published annually by the North Allegheny Senior High School and is currently in its 45th year. VARIATIONS offers NASH students an opportunity to share their original poetry, fiction, art, and photography with their peers, teachers, and community. VARIATIONS is an after-school activity run by a staff of juniors and seniors that meets monthly to evaluate submissions and construct the magazine. Since 2011, VARIATIONS earned top awards from the National Council of Teachers of English, the American Scholastic Press Association, and/or the Pennsylvania School Press Association.
The 2017 edition of VARIATIONS Literary and Creative Arts magazine was the only PA magazine recommended for Highest Award in Pennsylvania by the National Council of Teachers of English. In addition, the American Scholastic Press Association selected VARIATIONS as a Most Outstanding High School Literary–Art Magazine and awarded VARIATIONS the first place with special Merit. From the PA School Press Association, VARIATIONS earned the Keystone Award, PSPA’s highest honor.
Students interested in joining the VARIATIONS staff should listen for information during morning announcements or stop in room 234; all English teachers will be providing information as well.
