    DIRECTIONS: Please review the following information with your child for our

    Health and Physical Education quiz. 

    The quiz for 4th and 5th  grade will be worth 15 points.

     

    ALL STUDENTS SHOULD UNDERSTAND:

     

    Components of Fitness:

    • Strength is how much force you can exert with your muscles.
    • Body composition is the percentage of muscle, fat and bone in the human body.
    • Flexibility is moving your muscles and joints through a full range of motion
    • Cardiorespiratory Endurance is the ability of the heart and lungs to work for an extended period of time.
    • Muscular Endurance is the amount of force that a muscle can apply over and over.

     

     

    FITT Principle: (guides you in how often, how hard, how long and what kind of exercises to perform)

     

    • Aerobic activities raise your heart rate and keep it up for an extended period of time.
    • Biking, jogging and jumping rope are aerobic activities that improve your cardiorespiratory endurance.
    • Biking, jogging and swimming for long periods of time improve your cardiorespiratory endurance.
    • Anaerobic activities use energy sources stored in the body to perform work for a short period of time.
    • Sprinting and weight lifting are anaerobic activities that use energy sources stored in the body to perform work for a short period of time.
