Friday, November 6

Attention 9th Grade Boys Basketball: There will be an open gym on Monday November 9th from 2:30 until 4:00 for anyone interested in trying out for the 9th grade boys’ basketball team.  We will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday for the next two weeks leading up to the tryouts on Friday, November 20th. If you have any questions see Mr. Schmidt.
Congratulation to the girls JV tennis team on an undefeated season for 2009 with a record of 15 – 0, if you see any of the following girls please congratulate them!!!! National Junior Honor Society will be selling directories in the cafeteria during lunches on Monday, Nov. 9th through Friday – Nov. 13th for $5.00.Get yours while they last…..

Since the Gobble for Cans and the Canned Food Drive are quickly approaching, the Service committee welcomes all clubs and committees to help collect cans for the North Hills Food Bank.

NA gymnastic team will be selling tiger paw earrings for $10 a pair on Thursday and Friday at lunch. 
The Varsity Ice Hockey team plays host to the State College Little Lions tonight in their home opener.  Game time is tonight at 6 PM at Bladerunners, Warrendale.  Come cheer on the team!

Attention music lovers:  In a last minute add-on, the band Motion City Soundtrack will be passing through Pittsburgh doing a free acoustic performance.  The show will take place tomorrow at 3:30 in the afternoon at the Bruesters on Route 8.  So, if you are a fan of FREE live music and don’t have anything going on tomorrow afternoon, swing on by the Bruesters on Route 8 to check out an acoustic performance by Motion City Soundtrack.  

 

Thursday, November 5

Attention all FBLA members, there willl be a brief meeting after school today in regards to the regional competition. If you cannot attend, please stop by room 37 sometime today!

Congratulations to all the members of the North Allegheny Rowing Team for their great efforts at the American Heritage River Fall Classic in Michigan on Sunday!  A gold medal was won by Valerie Kopyta, Ellie Duursma, Nicole Rotunno, Maureen Crammond, Jenny Miller, Sarah Sharpnack, Christina Hunkele, and Madison Treser with Jess Mazur as coxswain in the Womens Junior Novice Eight event.  Also taking home gold was Andre Ficerai, Jake Lennon, Sean Kurtz, and John Rectenwald in the Mens Junior Four event with Jess Mazur as coxswain.  Earning silver in the Mixed Eight event was Jess Pegher, Lauren Vespoli, Merel Duursma, Kim Gilmour, Cole Lennon, Mike Durbiano, Kurt Schoffstall, and David McQuiston with Meghan Wilson as coxswain.  A silver also went to Ellie Duursma, Sarah Sharpnack, Maureen Crammond, and  Madison Treser in the Womens Junior Novice Four event with Jess Mazur as coxswain.  In the Womens Open Double event, North Allegheny took two medals:  silver went to Christine Frazier and Christina Hunkele while Jenny Miller and Valerie Kopyta took home the bronze.  Congratulations to all the rowers on a great fall season!

 

There will be a meeting: “How to do a Workshop-Drawing Your Stickman” this evening at Carson Middle school from 6:30 until 8:30.  It is recommended to all student council members who would like to present a workshop at any conference.  Registration begins at 6:00.  See Mrs. Hunt if you would like to attend.

There will be a Service committee meeting after school tomorrow in the SAO.

Attention members of Students Against Destructive Decisions.  We will meet tomorrow morning during morning homeroom in the Cafeteria.

Wednesday, November 4

The NA Varsity Hockey Team trailing Shaler 3-0 on Monday night, rallied back to force the Titans into overtime, before losing a close one 4-3.  Next game is the home opener at Bladerunners on Friday night against State College.

NA gymnastic team will be selling tiger paw earrings for $10 a pair on Thursday and Friday at lunch. 

Tomorrow all 10th grade students will take the Plan Test.  The list of student room assignments has been posted in all classrooms and outside the main and attendance offices.  Please check this list for your room assignment for the test.  If room 84 is posted on your list, you are to report to room 48.

The Key Club Rose sale has been held over for 1 additional day. Key Club members will be selling rose bouquets during all lunches on Friday, October 30th. The cost is $2.50 & will benefit the charity Caitlin Smiles which provides craft bags to sick children who are in the hospital. Please remember that special someone, a good buddy or that favorite teacher!

The JV Hockey team raised it's record to 2 and 0 after defeating Seneca Valley last night 4 to 1. Scoring goals for NA were John Mammay(2) , Dillon Naylor and John Joseph. Matt Neurohr had 2 assists.
Varsity Hockey travels to Bladerunners Ice Complex in Harmarville on 
Monday, November 2nd to face the Shaler Titans.  Gametime is 7:30 PM.  

Come out and support the team as it begins its season.

The Girl’s field hockey team hosts the Fox Chapel foxes tonight at 7 p.m. for the WPIAL Semi-finals. Come support the tigers as they moved towards the WPIAL Championship.
School Picture retakes will be taken Thursday October 29 during all lunch periods in the auditorium.
The NORTH ALLEGHENY in Association with the NORTH HILLS COMMUNITY OUTREACH, will be holding their annual Coat Drive to benefit the Free Coat Shop before the football game this Friday.  The Cheerleaders will be stationed by the Baierl Center ticket booth to collect your clean, gently used coats the night of the game.  Anyone who brings a coat to the game will receive a free bleacher seat cushion while supplies last.  Also, a Project: “Unite on Game Night” coat collection box will be stationed at the Athletic Office this week.  With your coat donation, students will get $1 off a student ticket.

Freshman Hockey Team opened the season with a 10-0 victory over Beaver Tuesday night.  Alex Weinbrenner, Shawn Baird, and Tyler Landman led NA with 2 goals apiece. Also scoring were Marty Hubert, Dan Hopkins, Dan Lambert, and Justin Leonard.  Assists went to Ian Cunningham, Alex Weinbrenner, Chris Como, Marty Hubert, Shawn Baird, Dan Hopkins, Dan Lambert, Steve Kelleher, and Justin Leonard. In goal, Bradford Thornburgh was perfect, turning aside everything Beaver threw at him.

 

Tuesday, October 27

Attention GOAL students participating in the Chain Reaction Contraption Contest: This Friday, Oct 30th your 2nd photo progress report is due. They are looking to see what progress has been made. This must be submitted to Mrs. Fochler by 1:30 pm Friday. You must email a jpeg photo to Mrs. Fochler.  You can email or hand submit the form. If you have any questions please stop by the GOAL office.  Thank you!

Attention all outdoor enthusiasts: LTA is going backpacking on the weekend of November 14th & 15th. Please stop down at the climbing wall, this Wednesday for more information.

The Girls Field Hockey Team play host to the Fox Chapel Foxes on Wednesday October 28, in the WPIAL semi-finals! Come cheer on the Tigers as they move towards the WPIAL Championship. Good luck girls!

The Lady Tigers Varsity Slow Pitch softball team made it all the way to the championship game of the playoffs, losing a heartbreaker to West Allegheny 9-8. During the three games, strong Ryanne Tyler, Kristen Poole, Alexa Pagone, Nicole Kurtanich, and Kalsey Kurtanich turned in strong defensive play.  Christal Rose, Nia Parillo, Annie Altman, Kim Wolfe, Brittany Hogg, Becca Napoli and Allie Bliss provided strong offense.  Great job Lady Tigers.

NAI’s Fall Play is the Hunchback of Notre Dame.  The cast, crew, and directors would like to invite you all to come see the show.  There are two more performances on Saturday, October 24th at 2pm and 7pm.   Tickets can be purchased at the door for $6.00.  Come and support your school and classmates.

Today during periods 5, 6, 7, and 8 the library will be hosting Teen Read Week activities.  Pack your lunch or come during a study hall to join in the book discussions and check out a book.  Today’s featured “Books with Bite” are New Moon, The Hunger Games and City of Bones.  There will also be games, prizes and food.  Stop by the library to pick up a pass.

Trailing 3-1 to Erie McDowell, the Varsity Ice Hockey team rallied back to a 3-3 tie last evening.  James Harper, Ryan Worsena, and Joey Griffin each scored goals for the Tigers in their season opener.  The Tigers face off against Shaler in their next game November 2nd at Harmarville.

The JV Hockey team won its first game last night against Knoch, 10 to 1. Vincent Lomupo scored 3 goals and an assist. Mike Neurohr had 2 goals and 2 assists. Cody Black scored 2 goals.

Attention all students taking the PSAT test on Saturday, October 17th…. You are required to bring photo identification with you.  Please remember to bring your school ID badges with you.  If you do not have one, please stop and see your counselor for an identification form to take to the test.
