“North Allegheny Intermediate High School held its annual canned food drive (Gobble for Cans) from November 17-21, 2008. Throughout the week, students collected cans from their families and neighbors as they competed against each other for bragging rights of top homeroom in the school. Mr. Anticole’s homeroom ended up on top with a record breaking 3,400 cans! The student body as a whole pulled together to participate in this project that touches many lives in our nearby communities. By the end of the week, NAI had collected a grand total of 17,071 cans to be donated to the North Hills food bank. In addition, a cash donation in the amount of $5,332.20 was also made to the food bank, helping them to continue their important work throughout the year. According to Don Dean, director of the food bank, the number of cans that NAI collected in only 5 days will account for over 15% of the food that will be given to families throughout an entire year! The North Hills Food Bank sincerely thanks the students and staff of NAI for giving back to their community.” |
