The NAI Student Council collected money to help the victims of the Hurricane Katrina. The students held dances, a Battle of the Bands, NAIdol and activities from Key Club to raise money to help the students of this catastrophe.
We are proud to announce that a grand total of $11,633.00 was collected. The students felt it would be appropriate to adopt a high school and have the funds to go toward rebuilding a student council in the disaster area.
According to the Louisiana Department of Education, one of the neediest schools was Chalmette High School in St. Bernard Parish (County). We discovered that every school in their district was destroyed by Katrina. The money raised by the students of NAI will go directly toward a new Ninth Grade Academy within the school and will help a new student council get off the ground.
We received notification that our check was received by the district. We are so proud of our students, past and present. They continually demonstrate a kindness and willingness to give back to others that may be less fortunate. Great job!!
