The “Wonder Garden” that was started in 1999 has
grown beyond our expectations. All the students in the entire school have
the opportunity to take an active role in planting and maintaining this garden. They have learned about plants,
gardening, insects, and the need for responsibility and regular maintenance. In
the fall of 2001 an Eagle Scout with the help of parents and boy scouts built
six raised beds. These beds are used by the grade levels to plant classroom
gardens. Also, in the fall the third grades planted a tulip bed. “Wonder Garden” has been a great success with each grade using the garden to enhance their science curriculum.
