PSSA Writing Rubric Checklist

At McKnight “It’s Right to Write.”   Use the information from the writing rubric below to see what you are doing well and  what areas you can focus on to improve.  

 

Focus

  • Easy to understand
  • Introduction with good topic sentence
  • Made a clear point about the topic
  • Ends with   clear conclusion
  • Understandable
  • Has some type of beginning, middle, and end
  • Sticks to the topic

 

  • Limited ideas
  • Sentences that don’t relate to the topic
  • No beginning and/ or conclusion

 

ContenT  Development

  • Details ( facts, examples, opinions)   are clear
  • Details are specific and well explained
  • Details are sufficient to make the point or explain the topic 
  • Some details( facts, examples, opinions)    are clear
  • Some details are well explained
  • More than one detail but  more could be added

ORGANIZATION
