The Meadow experiment at McKnight continues to explore new techniques. Since the germination has not had a high rate of success, we are trying something new. At the fall clean up, we prepared one quarter of the meadow for spring planting. Students and their families placed a layer of newspaper to prevent weeds from crowding our wildflowers. Then a thick layer of mulch was added to prepare for spring planting. This process was completed under the direction of Mr. Caswell with many students assistants. This techniques was also used to prepare the raised bed under the third grade windows. Six varieties of milkweed will be planted to feed our monarchs. Once again our students and their families amazed us with their overwhelming support. Now all we have to do is wait and thank all those who made our meadow possible.
