Inkheart (PG), a live-action movie based on Cornelia Funke’s best-selling novel (Scholastic, 2003), will be released in U.S. theaters on January 23, 2009. Read all 3 books in the series in the library ! Each year McKnight students participate in the voting for the Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Award. Students must have read at least 3 of the nominated books by March 15, 2009 to qualify as an official voter. The winners for 2008 were in grades K-3 Hi! Fly Guy and in grades 3-5 Aliens are Coming: The True Account of the 1958 War of the Worlds Broadcast. To see a list of this year's nominated books CLICK HERE.
Students attend weekly library/computer classes taught by the librarians, Mrs. Burk and Mrs. Falkner. Additional classes are scheduled to integrate library and information technology skills with the grade level curriculum. Students are permitted to use the library independently to meet reading and information needs. We also have "Shoebox Science" kits which are available to check out.
