Selection Three – Trapped by the Ice

Extra lesson that can be scheduled:

a.       There are a number of excellent web sites about Shakelton’s trip. Students can answer questions and order  a timeline of Shackleton's journey or create a map- Schedule 1- 2 extra   library periods

                    Focus on Biography-

a. biography genre lesson and quiz- Schedule 1 extra   library period

(this matches with Pa. CA. 1.2C. Conventions of Literary genre and 1.3.B Literary elements in stories)

b. research a famous hero, athlete, or explorer- use research in classroom to make a  written or oral report , can make PowerPoint or a timeline in the lab also.

 If just  research – 2 extra library periods. If research and then PowerPoint or timeline then  3 extra library periods for certain.
