INGOMAR ELEMENTARY – PTO MEETING MINUTES –January 6, 2009
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 9:35am in the LGI room. President Sandy Peters presided, Vice President Libby Blackburn, Treasurer Donna Borgese and Principal Dr. Chmara were present. Jennifer Kirschler recorded the minutes.
READING OF THE MINUTES
Minutes from the December 2008 meeting were read. Theresa Beining moved to accept the minutes. The Motion was seconded by Julie Greenberg and carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
Thank you cards were received rom several of the teachers for the holiday cookies which were prepared by Maureen Turner.
TEACHER’S REMARKS
Mrs. Sanguigni was present and indicated that Mrs. Vrana ordered the speaker system.
There was an inquiry to see if the PTO had decided whether or not to pay for an author/illustrator to come on Dr. Suess Day. This would cost approximately $1000.00. This will be decided at the next meeting.
PRINCIPAL’S REMARKS
Dr. Chmara discussed recent test scores. The students continue to shine. The recent ITBS scores which show a group’s ability score along with the student’s actual score in grade 2 & 4. Note that this score is only afforded to our students in grades 2 &4. Overall, our 2nd graders and 4th grader exceeded what was predicted. With regards to CogAT test, our 2nd graders scored in the 82nd percentile rank and the 4th graders scored in the 88th percentile rank.
TREASURER’S REPORT
We are over budget because some fundraisers were canceled. For extra money we need to take money out of the reserve. Joy Zemet moved to approve the report and it was seconded by Theresa Beining.
OLD BUSINESS
As a result of the obstacle course, $820 was collected for the climbing wall project. We have received a total of $5,580 toward the wall and therefore the PTO will pay about $1,000 for the climbing wall.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Bingo Night – will be January 30th starting at 6 pm.
Coffee and Dessert Night will be February 27th from 6 pm until 8:30pm.- each class will donate a basket. Volunteers needed to get donations and decorate.
NEW BUSINESS
Jump Rope for Heart – Volunteers needed for count money.
Promethean Whiteboards – demonstration of sound system
