INGOMAR ELEMENTARY – PTO MEETING MINUTES –December 4, 2008

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 9:35 in the Cafeteria.  President Sandy Peters presided, Vice President Libby Blackburn, Treasurer Donna Borgese and Principal Dr. Chmara were present.  Jennifer Kirschler recorded the minutes.

 

READING OF THE MINUTES

Minutes from the November 2008 meeting were read.  Sue Longo moved to accept the minutes.  The Motion was seconded by Agnus Merlin and carried.

 

CORRESPONDENCE

No correspondence

 

TEACHER’S REMARKS

Mrs. Walsh was present and indicated that Mrs. Huskey and the 2nd grade teachers requested money to purchase books for 2nd grade.  This is a cost of $150.00. 

There was also a request for an author/illustrator to come on Dr. Suess Day which is March 2nd.  This would cost approximately $1000.00

 

PRINCIPAL’S REMARKS

Dr. Chmara discussed the climbing wall project.  We received a $3,000 PE grant and $1,500 from the NA Foundation for the climbing wall.  The remaining funds will be supplied by the PTO.  The climbing wall will be installed soon..  Other grants have been applied for and, if that money is received, we can add on to the climbing wall.

The Promethean whiteboards will be installed in four classrooms.  The NA Foundation provided one half of the funds with the remaining funds provided by the PTO.

We are awaiting final approval from the district for the climbing wall and the picnic table project.

The Winter Parties will have one menu for each grade level.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

There was $3,200 coming out this month for expenses.  It will cost about $1,000 for the remaining funding for the climbing wall.  We are not doing the trip to Macy this year because Macy stopped doing the event.
