Bradford Woods Elementary School

Principal's Message

Welcome back to another exciting year at Bradford Woods Elementary. We look to this year with great expectations because we do believe that the best is yet to come—each year we just keep getting better. Last year our scores on standardized tests—the CAT and the PSSA— improved dramatically. We plan to continue this tradition of high achievement for our students again this year.

Last January our staff and students had developed a plan that included practicing our test taking skills and developing writing skills that match the state standards. This year’s plan for high achievement includes a schedule with uninterrupted blocks of time for teaching reading and math, professional collaboration, and new teaching strategies that reinforce math and reading standards.

Another focus this year will again be that of keeping our children safe. All of us working at Bradford Woods Elementary accept the responsibility for our children’s safety very seriously. We want every child to enjoy coming to school, to look forward to interacting with friends, classmates and staff, and to know that we will keep them safe.

Our Bully Prevention initiative will continue to help students with class meetings and school-wide projects and assemblies. This year we have expanded the program to include a parent education component. Please watch for information about the upcoming lecture series "Focus on Kids" that the staff and PFA will provide.

As in previous years, we couldn’t have such great expectations if it wasn’t for the strong, supportive parent community. The volunteer and financial support of our PFA only helps Bradford Woods Elementary to be a better place for students. By becoming involved in your school, you will feel the excitement and the fun of another hardworking and successful school year.

Please do not hesitate to call me or anyone on our staff if there is something we can do to make this school year an even better one for your child.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the curriculum nights and our PFA Fall Family Night.

"Working hard...having fun!"
