Rowing/TIGERS WIN THREE GOLD, FOUR SILVER AT SCHOLASTIC SPRINTS
The NA Tigers appeared in full force at the Scholastic Sprints at Moraine State Park last Sunday and again failed to disappoint.  Gold medals were won by Olivia Klipa (Varsity Women's Single), Ryan Mohan (Varsity Men's Single) and Logan Ellis/Zac O'Neill (Varsity Men's Double).  Tiger rowers also won four silver medals.

Baseball/TIGERS, HEMPFIELD TO MEET IN FIRST ROUND AT GATEWAY
The Tigers will face Hempfield in a first round matchup next Friday night at Gateway High School.  NA finished in a tie for third place in Section 1 while Hempfield was the Section 2 Champion.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Softball/LADY TIGERS TO MEET CONNELLSVILLE IN FIRST ROUND OF WPIAL PLAYOFFS
The WPIAL released the pairings for the 2008 Class AAAA playoffs that will begin next week.  The Lady Tigers, co-champion of Section 3, will face the Connellsville Falcons, the second-place team from Section 1, at Gateway on Tuesday in the first round.  Game time is scheduled for 3:00 pm.

NATV/NETWORK ISSUES FORCE PROGRAMMING CHANGES
The technical difficulties are over and new equipment has been installed allowing NATV to get back to regular programming.  Because of network issues at NASH, however, all programming has been bumped one week.  In addition, the Game of the Week telecasts that were missed because of the technical difficulties will be presented in their entirety during the next two months.

Bowling/NA BOWLERS NEEDED FOR PA STATE USBC BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The PA State USBC Bowling Championships will be held at Baden Bowl in Ambridge on the weekends of June 6-8 and June 13-15.  It would be a good experience for NA bowlers for the upcoming season.  If you are interested, check out the information by clicking on the link below.  If you have questions, please call Mr. Bob Michalojko at 724-272-3929.

Tennis/TENNIS FUNDRAISER SUPPORTS CANCER RESEARCH
For the second year in a row, the North Allegheny Tennis Team will host Tiger Tennis Day, a fundraiser clinic with games and prizes to benefit the Gullikson Foundation for brain tumor victors.  The clinic will be held on Saturday, May 17th at the Senior High courts.

Tennis Courts/TENNIS COURT CLOSURE
The North Allegheny Senior High tennis courts will not be available for public play on the following dates and times due to scheduled school activities.
     Saturday, May 10th - 11:00 am - 4:30 pm
     Saturday, May 17th - 11:00 am - 3:30 pm
     Sunday, May 18th - 11:00 am - 3:30 pm

Summer Recreation/SUMMER RECREATION APPLICATIONS AND SCHEDULES NOW AVAILABLE
The Joint Recreation Board of Bradford Woods, Franklin Park, Marshall and McCandless is once again sponsoring a Summer Recreation program for resident school age children.  The program will run from June 16 through August 15.  Each program will have a separate facility and time schedule.  Each participant is required on the first day of attendance, at each program, to pay $20.00 for services and the insurance program.

Tryouts and Camps

Cheerleaders/TRYOUTS SCHEDULED FOR 2008-09 SCHOOL YEAR
Tryouts for cheerleaders have been scheduled for the 2008-09 school year.  Freshman and Middle School Tryouts will be during the week of May 19-22.  A parent meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13 (Freshman and Middle School).  The meeting will be held in the NAI auditorium and will begin at 7:00 pm.

Cheerleaders/MINI CAMP SCHEDULED FOR JUNE
The North Allegheny Cheerleaders will teach you Cheers! Chants! Dance!  A cheerleading minicamp will be held during the week of Monday, June 9th, through Friday, June 13th, at NAI from 9:30-11:30 am each session.

Ice Hockey/TRYOUTS SCHEDULED FOR 2008-09
Tryouts for the 2008-09 NA ice hockey team will be held during the week of May 18th.  Varsity tryouts will be on May 18th and 19th, junior varsity on May 19th and 20th and freshman on May 22nd.  All tryouts will be held at Bladerunners in Warrendale.  A tryout form must be completed and returned by May 1 and a physical exam will be required after June 1.

Athletic Department/FALL SPORTS ASSEMBLIES
Assemblies for those students interested in fall sports for the 2008-09 school year will be held according to the following schedule:
     NA Intermediate HS - May 8th at 8:10 am
     Ingomar Middle School - May 15th at 2:10 pm
     Marshall Middle School - May 21st at 2:10 pm
     Carson Middle School - May 22nd at 2:10 pm

Community Swimming/NORTH ALLEGHENY AQUATIC PROGRAM NOW AVAILABLE
Pool memberships are now available for NA residents.  Family memberships are $150 with individual memberships set at $75 for the entire school year.  Community swim hours are Monday through Thursday from 7-9:30 pm.  Swimming and springboard diving lessons are also available for children who are at least four years old by the sign-up date.

MRSA Infections/DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has released information on how to deal with MRSA infections.  General recommendations and other information on MRSA  including spread, treatment, and prevention and control are available on the PADOH fact sheet.  The Allegheny County Health Department has also issued guidelines for the treatment of MRSA.  Click on the following link for more information:   (http://www.achd.net/mrsa/MRSAMain.html)

Athletic Director/INFECTIOUS DISEASE PREVENTION GUIDELINES
The National Athletic Trainers' Association has released a set of guidelines of precautions for the prevention of the spread of communicable and infectious diseases.  Due to the nature of competitive sports at the high school level, there is an elevated risk of infectious diseases being spread by skin-to-skin contact.

Athletic Director/INFORMATION NOW AVAILABLE FOR STUDENT ATHLETES WISHING TO COMPETE IN COLLEGE ATHLETICS
All high school athletes wishing to compete in college must register with the initial-eligibility clearinghouse.  Information about the clearinghouse, eligibility requirements, ACT and SAT test information, recruiting schedule, FAQ, recruiting regulations and financial aid questions is available on the website.

Athletic Training/ImPACT CONCUSSION BASELINE TESTS NOW BEING OFFERED ONLINE
The North Allegheny Athletic Training Department is proud to announce that the UPMC ImPACT concussion baseline tests are now being offered online.  This innovative program known as ImPACT (Immediate Post Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is a computerized exam that each athlete will take prior to the current athletic season.  (More)

Hall of Fame/NA HALL OF FAME CONTINUES MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
The North Allegheny Athletic Hall of Fame is currently conducting its annual membership drive.  All athletes who graduated in, or before, 2003 are eligible for consideration.  To nominate an athlete, you must be a member of the Hall of Fame Association.  (More)

Lacrosse(M)/TIGERS CRUSH SENECA VALLEY, 14-3, IN BATTLE FOR DIVISION LEAD
Junior attack Grady Wirth and junior midfield Zach Uhler scored four goals each while freshman attack Michael Eck added three more as the Tigers overwhelmed Seneca Valley, 14-3, in a North Division contest at Newman Stadium on Friday night.  NA built a 5-0 lead after one quarter and never looked back as they improved their division mark to 3-0, the overall record to 12-2.  The Tigers will travel to Pine-Richland on Wednesday night to meet the Rams in an 8:00 pm division game.  (More)

Volleyball(M)/TIGERS TAKE CARE OF AMBRIDGE, 3-0, TO FINISH UNBEATEN
The #1 team in Class AAA defeated the #1 team in Class AA as the Tigers downed the Ambridge Bridgers, 3-0, at Ambridge in the regular season finale at Ambridge on Thursday night.  Senior OH J.J. Leroux led the way with 15 kills while senior OH Derek Zweig added 12.  With the win, NA completed the dual regular season with a record of 14-0.  The Tigers will begin action in the WPIAL playoffs next week.  (More)

Track and Field/TIGER TEAMS FALL IN WPIAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
It came down to the last race for the boys, but Canon-McMillan edged the NA 1600 relay team to take the team title at West Mifflin on Thursday afternoon.  In the girls' competition, the Lady Tigers finished second as Norwin won their third straight WPIAL title.  The WPIAL Class AAA Individual Championships will be held next Thursday at Baldwin High School.  (More)

Baseball/O'NEILL LEADS TIGERS INTO PLAYOFFS WITH 3-0 SHUTOUT OF NORTH HILLS
Senior RHP Sam O'Neill tossed a four-hit shutout at rival North Hills on Wednesday afternoon at the Senior High field as the Tigers downed the Indians, 3-0, in the section finale.  NA picked up a pair of unearned runs in the fifth, and senior RF Mike O'Neill singled home a third in the sixth to secure the victory.  With the win, the Tigers claimed a playoff spot in the upcoming WPIAL Quad A playoffs that will begin next week.  NA will host Erie McDowell on Saturday morning as the NA seniors will be honored before the game.  Game time is set for 10:00 am.  (More)

Tennis(M)/FOX CHAPEL ELIMINATES TIGERS FROM PLAYOFFS WITH 4-1 VICTORY
The Tigers battled #2 seed Fox Chapel to the end, but the Foxes were able to hold on for a 4-1 victory in the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Class AAA Team Tennis tournament.  Junior Matt Smith won his singles match for the only NA point.  The Tigers completed the season with a final mark of 15-4 while advancing to the quarterfinals.  (More)

Softball/LADY TIGERS BLANK NORTH HILLS, 5-0, TO CLAIM SHARE OF SECTION CROWN
Sophomore right hander Deanna Tritinger hurled a one-hitter to lead the Lady Tigers to a 5-0 victory over North Hills in the section finale at the Senior High field on Tuesday afternoon.  With the win, NA moved into a first-place tie with North Hills, Shaler, and Seneca Valley with all four teams advancing to the playoffs.  Junior 1B Sarah had a pair of doubles, senior LF Katie Polley added an RBI triple, while junior SS Mary DeMino was three for three.  NA will host Ambridge tomorrow afternoon on Senior Day with game time set for 5:15 pm.  (More)

Lacrosse(F)/PINE-RICHLAND TOPS LADY TIGERS, 9-5
The Lady Tigers traveled to Pine-Richland on Tuesday night and dropped a 9-5 decision to the Rams.  With the loss, the NA section record fell to 3-5, the overall mark to 6-12.  The Lady Tigers will host Butler tomorrow night at Newman Stadium with game time scheduled for 7:30 pm.

MSA Sports Cup/TIGER TEAMS HOLD SLIM LEAD AFTER WINTER SPORTS SEASON
The Tiger teams still lead in the quest for the MSA Sports Cup after the winter sports season tabulations.  NA has a total of 475 points to 465 for the combined teams of Oakland Catholic/Central Catholic.  NA has won the cup for all four years that has been awarded.
