LADY TIGERS FALL IN OVERTIME, 11-10

In what Coach Dan Volz called, "the most exciting lacrosse game I've ever been involved with", the Lady Tigers dropped a tough 11-10 decision to Winchester Thurston at Newman Stadium on Thursday night.  Junior Ashley Hughes led the way for NA with three goals and an assist while junior Laura Chapman added two goals and an assist.

Winchester Thurston had taken an early lead and held a 7-4 advantage at the intermission.  The Lady Tigers fought back in the second half to take the lead only to see the Bears move back in front.  With the score tied at 9-9, Hughes scored the go ahead goal with just 50 seconds left, and it looked like NA would win.  The Bears had other ideas, however, and tied the game with just 10 seconds remaining.  Finally, Winchester Thurston got the game winner in the second overtime period.

Coach Volz praised the efforts of the Lady Tigers against a team "with a fifty- year history of playing lacrosse".  Even though NA came up a little short, the game proved that the Lady Tigers can compete.  Coach Volz looks for good things during the remainder of the season.  The loss dropped the NA record to 2-3 on the season.  The Lady Tigers will be in action again on Monday when they travel to Fox Chapel to meet the Foxes in a 7:30 pm contest.

The Lady Tigers varsity team will be in action tonight when they host Winchester Thurston at Newman Stadium.  Game time is set for 7:30 pm in a game that coach Dan Volz calls "pivotal" for the Lady Tigers.
