| The North Allegheny Science Department offers the students of our school district a comprehensive background in all areas of science. The faculty is committed to the highest quality of science instruction with an emphasis on inquiry-based learning. All North Allegheny students will have opportunities to explore the foundational science areas of biology, chemistry, and physics (at various academic levels). Additionally, elective courses in a wide range of scientific fields are available, such as Organic Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Earth Science, Astronomy, and Environmental Science. We are committed to scientific literacy for every student. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The 2007-2008 school is now upon us! The biggest news is that the
State of Pennsylvania has awarded North Allegheny a "Classrooms for the
Future" grant to to be used at the Senior High School to outfit the
Science, Social Studies and Special Education rooms with the latest
technological teaching tools. These will include interactive white
boards, computer projectors, scanners, printers, and laptop computers
wirelessly connected to make the science lessons truly interactive and
state of the art. Lab experiences will focus on "electronic data
collection", quizzes and tests can become "paperless", presentations by
the staff will become more dynamic and collegial exchange between teachers
in the same subject areas will become easier to accomplish. Needless
to say, the staff will be undergoing intensive training to maximize the
use of this technology.
Additionally, the science
staff will be attending workshops on climate change and global warming
along with a "field trip" to visit Duquesne University's science labs.
Other in-service activities will allow the staff to continue the work
which was begun last year to codify our science curriculum in an online
database. So, as you can tell, there is a great deal of work to be
done! Contact
