Stephen G. Baldanzi

Mr. Baldanzi is the director of bands at North Allegheny Intermediate High School. He earned a Bachelor of Music in composition with a minor in music education at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. While there, he studied trumpet with Dr. Dorothy Heier and David Sampson of the Solid Brass Ensemble. He completed a Masters of Music in composition at Carnegie Mellon University, Pgh., PA studying with Robert Page and Leonardo Balada. He also attended the Aspen School Music studying with Lukas Foss and George Tsontakis. Prior to coming to North Allegheny, Mr. Baldanzi was a music teacher in the Shaler Area School District and at Carlow Campus School.
Mr. Baldanzi’s duties at NAI include conducting the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble 2 and Jazz Ensemble 3. He also teaches music theory, electronic music and song writing. Mr. Baldanzi is the assistant director of the “Pride of the Black and Gold” North Allegheny Marching Band.
Mr. Baldanzi is involved with various community groups including the Allegheny Brass Band in Wexford and Stage 62 Theater Company in Carnegie. He is also the orchestra director for Carlynton School District’s spring high school musical.
Mr. Baldanzi is currently a member of PMEA, MENC, and the International Trumpet Guild. He resides in Crafton, PA with his wife Toni and their two sons, Alex and Joey.
