A new study just released  by the state of Illinois, replicates findings of previous studies in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Alaska - that Powerful Libraries Make Powerful Learners! Click here to see a research summary.

Libraries are learning places where a multitude of resources are available for all to use. NCTE reaffirmed its support of libraries and librarians in a resolution at the 2005 Annual Business Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. See the Resolution on Supporting School and Community Libraries.

 

In June of 2002 the White House held the Conference on School Libraries.  Learn about the

importance of strong school library programs and their impact on student learning.

North Allegheny was one of 1,000 libraries across the  country to  receive the We the People Bookshelf, a set of books which focus on "Freedom". This grant was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities in collaboration with the American Library Association (ALA). The program is designed to encourage young people to read and understand great literature while exploring themes in American history. To learn more click here.
