Anansi tales originated in West Africa but have been used in the Caribbean as well. Anansi is a trickster, deceitful but not malicious, and he often teaches humans something invaluable. In this one, trying to determine which of his six sons to reward for saving his life, Anansi the Spider is responsible for placing the moon in the sky. This book won the Caldecott Medal.
