Introduction
to Spanish A 5701

In Introduction to Spanish A, students
learn the basics of speaking, reading, and writing in the Spanish
language. Spanish listening comprehension skills are also stressed.
The course also introduces the customs and cultures of the many Spanish
countries of the world, as well as those of Spanish speakers living in the
U.S. In addition to using the basic textbook, students will work with
audio and video tapes of Spanish people speaking their language.
Criteria for selection
- No prerequisites. This course is presently offered at the Intermediate
High School and the Senior High School. Dependent upon enrollment, this
class may continue to be offered at the Senior High School.

This course continues the development of language skills begun in Introduction to Spanish A. Students explore the grammar in greater detail. There is more emphasis upon structured reading skills and writing strategies in the language. Students perform guided speaking activities and short, directed writing samples. The course will continue to explore the culture of the Hispanic World.

This course continues the development of language skills begun in Introduction to Spanish A. Students explore the grammar in greater detail. There is more emphasis upon structured reading skills and writing strategies in the language. Students perform guided speaking activities and short, directed writing samples. The course will continue to explore the culture of the Hispanic World.
In addition to the attributes of Intro B, the students will be exposed to an enhanced variety of reading, writing, and speaking activities. Grammar topics that are beyond the scope of Intro B will also be covered. These students will be expected to complete independent assignments.

This course is intended to cover the equivalent of a third-year college course in advanced composition and conversation. The objectives of the course are to enable students to comprehend formal and informal spoken Spanish; to acquire the understanding of vocabulary and structure that will allow students to read newspaper and magazine articles and modern literature; to compose expository passages; and to express ideas orally with accuracy.
This course is conducted in Spanish. The students are expected to speak Spanish in the classroom when speaking to the teacher and each other. The course will focus on independent thought and work. Extensive training will be done on the organization and writing of compositions.
