NASH Mural Project

Students of NASH are planning a mural for the back hallway of the second floor that will examine and express selected themes through the filters of science, the arts, commerce, human nature, literature, technology and athletics.  It will reflect the various ways that we learn, know and find meaning here at NASH.

An example of this idea in an artwork that explores a single theme from a multitude of viewpoints is the online work A is for Apple.  It is a flash riff on apples and the many interconnected meanings and associations that can be generated by a single word or symbol.

Some themes that have already been suggested are Time and Space, Diversity, Journeys, Tigers, Light, Water, The Mind, Hands, The Perfect Circle and  Gems.  You can join the brainstorm by submitting your ideas for mural themes.  View submitted suggestions here.

The mural will take the form of a giant inkjet print with additional hand work that runs the length of the hall along the upper portion of the wall.  It will be a montage of many students' original work in the form of drawing, painting, photography, graphic symbols, text and abstract forms.  All students will be invited to submit their work on the final theme choices.  Above is one example of what the mural might look like.  Other examples of montage in artworks can be viewed here
