NA Superintendent to Host Coffee

The North Allegheny School District (NASD) announces that Dr. Patricia P. Green, Superintendent of Schools, will host a Newcomers’ Coffee at the District’s Central Administration Offices, 200 Hillvue Lane, McCandless Township, on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 9:15 a.m.

The Coffee is designed to introduce parents with children who are new to the District to programs, processes, and key personnel.  A question and answer session will conclude the two hour meeting.

Any North Allegheny School District resident who may be interested in this presentation is welcome to attend.

NOTE:  Students may switch weeks due to an emergency situation.

            In order to register, students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when applying for a permit.  Students must submit proof of his/her driver’s license and owner’s card for each vehicle to be registered.  Applications will not be processed unless both the parent/guardian and the student appear in person to complete the necessary documentation.  Total cost is $45.00, payable by cash or a check to NASH.   The student’s social security number will be required to complete a “Request for Driver Information” form.  North Allegheny Senior High School will file this form in order to obtain information concerning any traffic violations within the last three years.  For more information, contact NASH at 724/934-7200.

NA Open Houses and Curriculum Nights Scheduled

The North Allegheny School District (NASD) announces that Open House/Curriculum Nights are scheduled for this school year as follows:

All Elementary Schools Curriculum Nights:        Kindergarten – Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
                                                                                Grades 3 and 4 – Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
                                                                                Grade 5 – Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
                                                                                Grades 1 and 2 – Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 

All Middle Schools Open House:                        Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. 

NA Intermediate High School Open House:        Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. 

NA Senior High School Open House:                    Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m.

All parents are cordially invited to come and meet their children’s teachers and hear key information about the curriculum, school programs and classroom expectations.  For more information, please contact the school secretary in any school office.

NA School Board to Meet Twice in August 

The North Allegheny School District (NASD) announces that the Board of School Directors will meet twice in August.

The Board will hold a Special Meeting/Work Session on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, in the Board Room of the Central Administration Offices, 200 Hillvue Lane, McCandless Township, beginning at 7:00 p.m. 

 The School Board’s Regular Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2009, and will also be held in the Board Room of the Central Administration Offices, 200 Hillvue Lane, McCandless Township, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The public is invited to attend all meetings.

North Allegheny School District is the largest suburban school district in Allegheny County.  It is located approximately twelve miles north of Pittsburgh and serves the municipalities of Bradford Woods Borough, Franklin Park Borough, Marshall Township and the Town of McCandless – a total of 48 square miles.  Much of the District is suburban-residential.  New housing developments and transferees moving into the area help maintain a steady enrollment. In 2008-2009, the total enrollment was 8,081 students in twelve schools.
