NA School Board to Meet Twice in December

 The North Allegheny School District (NASD) announces that the Board of School Directors will meet twice in the month of December.

 

The Board will hold a Reorganization and Work Session Meeting on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, and their Regular Meeting on Wednesday, December 10, 2008.  Both meetings will be held in the Board Room of the Central Administration Offices, 200 Hillvue Lane, McCandless Township, and will begin at 7:30 p.m.

NA Senior High National Honor Society Announces Blood Drive 

The North Allegheny School District (NASD) announces that the North Allegheny Senior High School (NASH) National Honor Society will be sponsoring a Blood Drive on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, from 2:00 pm till 7:00 pm in the foyer next to the NASH cafeteria. 

All community members and students are invited to participate and walk-ins will be accepted.  Identification must be presented at the time of donation.  Acceptable forms of identification are a driver’s license, social security card or birth certificate.

NA Senior High School Presents Lend Me a Tenor
 

The North Allegheny School District (NASD) is proud to announce the upcoming presentation of the Senior High School Fall Play Production, Lend Me a Tenor.  Performances will be in the NA Senior High Auditorium, 10375 Perry Highway, Wexford, as follows:

Thursday,       November 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Friday,            November 21 at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday,        November 22 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

In addition, a Free Senior Citizens/Gold Card Club Performance is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18 at 3:30 p.m.  Advanced sale tickets $10.00 for adults, $7.00 for students.  All seating is reserved.  All tickets purchased at the door will be $10.00. 

            Lend Me a Tenor, set in 1934, opens with the producers of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company awaiting the arrival of guest singer Tito Morelli, hailed as the greatest operatic tenor of his time.  Tito, anointed by fans as “II Stupendo” is scheduled to perform the title role in a gala performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Otello.  A chain-reaction of plot twists and double entendres continue to unfold and then remanifest as the call time for the sold out performance of Otello beckons.

NA Students Selected for Honors Band

 
The North Allegheny School District (NASD) proudly announces that fourteen North Allegheny high school students were selected for the 2008 PMEA District 1 Honors Band and will perform in concert at the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland on Sunday, November 30, 2008, at 4 PM.  They are:

Eliana Rabinowitz- Clarinet            
Nick Amoscato- Tenor Sax           
Ian Preston- Trumpet            
Kelsey Steele- Trombone

Julie Wu- Clarinet

Janny Liu- Bass Clarinet      
Aaron Borrebach- Alto Sax      
Zach Shaw- French Horn      
Evan Swihart- Euphonium      
Caleb Goncz- Percussion


Over 600 students auditioned for 125 available spots in the Honors Band.  North Allegheny students claimed more spots than any other school district from all of Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington, Fayette and Greene Counties.

Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) is a service organization for music education in the Commonwealth.  PMEA provides leadership in professional growth and offers special opportunities for musical development to school students.  The mission of PMEA is to advance music education by encouraging excellence in the study, teaching, and making of music.

NA Students Selected for PMEA Jazz Ensemble

 

The North Allegheny School District (NASD) proudly announces that thirteen North Allegheny Jazz Ensemble high school students were selected by audition for the 2008 PMEA District 1 Honors Jazz Ensemble.  The selected students represent both the Senior High School (NASH) and the Intermediate High School (NAI).  The Honors Jazz Ensemble will perform at the Upper St. Clair High School on Saturday, January 10, 2008, at 2 PM.  The students are:

Kelsey Steele- Trombone

            District 1 includes over 550 school and private music teachers from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties. An Honors String Orchestra, Honors Band Ensembles and Honors Chorus are offered to student-musicians by competitive audition.

NA Announces Thanksgiving Holiday Break

 

            North Allegheny School District (NASD) announces that all schools will be closed on Thursday, November 27, Friday, November 28, and Monday, December 1, 2008, for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Schools will resume classes on Tuesday, December 2, 2008.
